Second Ilkley Colour Rush is a success

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Ilkley Grammar School ran its second Colour Rush on 2nd July, raising a fantastic £3000 for school projects.

Participants were able to run, jog, walk, hop, skip or jump around a lapped course on the IGS playing fields whilst being covered in colourful paint (corn starch powder)! By the time they finished the course, all involved looked like a rainbow of colour! And despite some challenging weather conditions (rain and very gusty winds), the event proved once again to be a great community activity, with participants from all age ranges getting involved.

A spokesperson for the PTA said: ”We are so grateful to everyone that helped to make this event so successful and I’m delighted to announce that we raised £3000 which has already been earmarked for some great projects. We are aiming to support a number of initiatives, including sports equipment for the PE department; cameras and studio lighting for the Art department; equipment to support the creation of a dedicated sensory room; reconditioned iPads for the IT department; lockable display boards; and equipment to support the Eco iLeaders in their recycling campaign.”

“Thanks go to all our fantastic team of volunteers; to Ison Harrison solicitors for T-shirt sponsorship; to HF Wealth for general sponsorship; to Melanie Larkin from Sustain Health & Lifestyle Coaching who ran a fun-filled warm up; to Rombalds Radio who kept the fun music flowing throughout the day; to The Coffee Box coffee truck and Rossi’s ice cream van for refreshments; to Balloon World for the amazingly colourful balloon decorations and to Cosmos Flowers for some beautiful floral winners prizes.”
