Plans have been submitted to Bradford Council to install a new short advertising totem at Starbucks in Ben Rhydding after it was forced to removed the previous totem.

In 2025, the company installed a nine metre totem without consent and was subject to many complains and objections from residents, with planners saying it was a 'disproportionate and discordant feature'.

A retrospective application was refused and the sign was eventually removed in March 2026.

The new advertisement consent application by EG on The Move is for a five metre tall sign in a different location on the northwest corner, closer to the neighbouring Esso filling station.

The applications says;

"The proposed signage is for a single internally illuminated totem sign to Leeds Road extending to five metres in height to advertise the drive thru restaurant and EV charging points including the price of charging to traffic passing.

"The proposed signage has been designed to be visible from the A65 to alert drivers to the drive through restaurant.

"The location of the proposed sign set adjacent to the petrol station provides a backdrop to the signage which blends in with the surroundings. The proposed signage is set no further forward than the adjacent petrol station signage and is entirely appropriate to context. It is important to note that the proposed signage is lower than the canopy of the adjacent petrol station ensuring that it fits below that high point and is contained within this built form."

The application can be found on the Bradford Council planning portal, REF: 26/00783/ADV, a decision is expected this month.
