The Rotary Club of Ilkley Wharfedale would like to thank the people of Ilkley for their generous donations at the Rotary Club’s collection in Booths Supermarket last Saturday.
£1,600 was raised in six hours (four times the amount normally raised over that period). A cheque is already on its way to DEC (Disasters Emergency Committee) which, after some deliberation was considered to be the most effective way of getting funds where they are needed most with their connections already on the ground there.
The second of Ilkley’s two Rotary Clubs, the Rotary Club of Ilkley are matching this amount which will go to charities recommended by Rotary District 1040 and, if possible, through Rotary Club links in the Ukraine.
Ilkley Wharfedale Rotary Club will be holding another collection at Tesco Ilkley this Sunday, 13th March, between 10am and 4pm.
