Unique wooden sculpture unveiled at Ilkley's Riverside Park

Wooden sculpture created by Shane Green - The Yorkshire Carver

The Friends of Ilkley Riverside Parks are delighted to unveil their latest addition to the Park in the form of a wooden sculpture which was expertly created by Shane Green - The Yorkshire Carver over the weekend at the Ilkley Food and Drink Festival.

The carving has been sited at the New Brook Street entrance to the Park with the River Wharfe providing an appropriate backdrop and depicts most of the resident wildlife that can be found by the Riverside.

Chairman Ed Duguid said ‘ We are delighted with this latest addition to the Park which represents a different feature but very much complements the improvements we have made. As well as our appreciation of the skill and expertise of Shane we would also like to thank Michael Johnston of the Ilkley Food and Drink Festival who sponsored the carving. We are grateful that we were chosen as the charity to benefit from the sculpture.’

The Friends of Ilkley Riverside Parks continue to look at different ways to improve the Parks and are confident the introduction of the sculpture will be appreciated by residents and visitors alike.

Ed further added ‘ This has been a very worthwhile involvement with Shane and hope that we may be able to support each other again in the future.’
