Ilkley Musical Theatre Society [IMTS] have announced that they are one of the first amateur societies in the region to be granted the rights to perform The Prince of Egypt this November — and excitement is already building.

But as rehearsals gather momentum, the women of IMTS have just one dramatic question… where are all our Pharaohs?

Adapted from the beloved DreamWorks film and featuring music by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin), The Prince of Egypt tells the powerful story of Moses and his journey to free the Hebrew slaves. It is a sweeping, cinematic stage production filled with heart-stopping harmonies, breathtaking ensemble numbers and the Oscar-winning anthem When You Believe.

Principal auditions are already complete and IMTS have assembled an incredibly strong cast for most leading roles. However, two major male-presenting roles — Seti and Jethro — are still waiting to be claimed.

The society is also building a large, dynamic ensemble dancers and choir of around 30 voices and is particularly keen to welcome more lower voices to help create the rich, epic sound this show deserves.

IMTS warmly encourage male-presenting performers of all backgrounds, ethnicities, shapes and sizes to step forward. Whether you’re an experienced performer or completely new to the stage, there is a place for you. Community theatre thrives on diversity, friendship and shared passion — and IMTS pride themselves on being a welcoming, supportive society where lifelong friendships are made.

The production team behind The Prince of Egypt is exceptional. Direction comes from long standing Director Mark Allan, with a large live orchestra under the baton of MD Mike Gilroy and choreography from professional choreographer and West End performer Damien Poole. With this creative team at the helm, November promises to be nothing short of spectacular.

The society is no stranger to ambitious productions, having recently enjoyed huge success with West Side Story, Pippin and Little Shop of Horrors. Rehearsals are currently underway for their April production of Annie, proving that IMTS continues to go from strength to strength. Tickets available now at www.ilkleymusicaltheatresociety.co.uk

If you’ve ever thought about stepping onto the stage — or returning to it — now is the time. This is your chance to be part of something truly epic.
