Work starts Monday to refurb riverside toilets

The refurbishment of the public toilets in the Riverside Memorial Gardens will begin on Monday 5 September Ilkley Town Council have said this week.

The completed toilets will be modern, energy efficient, spacious, secure and include increased baby changing facilities and an accessible toilet with ramp access.

The Town Council has scheduled the works to avoid the busy summer period and it is expected that the refurbishment will take approximately 8 weeks. Alternative toilet facilities will be available nearby during the refurbishment works.

The overall contract is being delivered for the Town Council by Healthmatic, a specialist company that designs, installs and maintains toilets for councils, public authorities and transport hubs across the UK and Ireland. However, site preparation and essential building work needed for the installation will be undertaken by well known local contractor, Dobson Construction Ltd, who have been providing construction services to Ilkley and Yorkshire for over 40 years.

An Ilkley Town Council spokesperson said: “We look forward to the completion of the refurbished and modernised toilet block in the Riverside Gardens, which we believe will offer residents and visitors an improved experience and be more efficient to run and keep clean over an extended lifespan. The Town Council is particularly grateful to our staff and Councillor David Nunns who have been working very hard behind the scenes to ensure that this project can now begin with confidence.”
