Ilkley based anti-money laundering firm forms partnership with the football club through Leeds United Business Club

SmartSearch, the Ilkley based anti-money laundering firm, is proud to show its support for Leeds United by becoming members of Leeds United Business Club.

A family firm employing 90 local people, SmartSearch is Leeds through and through, so becoming part of Leeds United Business Club, which directly supports Leeds United seemed like an obvious link up for the business.

John Dobson, founder and CEO of SmartSearch and marketing director James Dobson, are both huge advocates of supporting their local community, and already support Ilkley Rugby Club, Ilkley Business Awards and various other charities.

Becoming a part of the Business Club not only allows the business to show its support for their team, but also gives staff the opportunity to go along to matches through the partnership, and see their employers’ name all around the stadium.

James said: “We are an international business with more than 3,100 customers across the world, but our roots, here in Leeds are really important to us.

“We have always supported Leeds United and already have numerous season ticket holders at SmartSearch. There are a lot of fans who work for us too, so it just seemed like a really great fit.”

Founded in 2011, SmartSearch is one of the world’s leading AML platforms. Its advanced technology enables clients to meet all their AML, Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance obligations all in one place by performing a ‘SmartSearch’.

The latest money laundering regulations call for electronic solutions like SmartSearch to be used by regulated companies to comply with money laundering regulations, so as a result, SmartSearch’s services are increasingly in demand.

Following rapid growth and expansion over the past three years - which has seen profits increase more than eight-fold and staff numbers more than doubling - SmartSearch relocated to brand new offices in Ilkley last summer, and now has more than 3,500 customers and 35,000 users.

It has been included on the Yorkshire Fastest 50 for the past two years, was named in the RegTech 100 in November, which is the list of the worlds’ 100 most pioneering companies in the industry, and then in February, was named in the FT1000 as one of the fastest growing companies in the whole of Europe.

The Leeds United Business Club hosts events, that include exclusive dinners and Q&As with former players, where members are invited to network with their fellow partners.

Speaking with like-minded people, these events present a commercial company, such as SmartSearch, with tangible opportunities to attract future business.

“There are so many Yorkshire businesses that could potentially benefit from our platform, so being able to network with other Leeds Business Club members at these events could open up lots of opportunities for us and we are really looking forward to being a part of it.”
