Holly Ball raises £5,000

The Rotary Holly Ball took place on Saturday at the King’s Hall and Winter Garden in Ilkley.

The Christmas party, which has now been in existence for 25 years, was attended by around 200 people and raised around £5000 for local good causes including The Friends of The King's Hall & Martin House Children’s Hospice.

Organisers, Ilkley Rotary Club, would like to thanks local Dance Group, Joze School of Dance, who helped to sell £3,000 in Raffle Tickets on the night.  

Prizes were donated by JCT 600, The Wheatley Hotel, Green room Florist, Lishman Butchers, B & TS Builders Merchants, Skipton Hire Centre, Audley Cliveden Spa & Restaurant, Anne Hawksworth, Rag Doll Pudsey, Kelvin Newberry & Martin House Hospice.

Rotary President Glynne Edwards thanked The Kings Hall Staff, Joze School of Dance, DJ Nick Babb, Martin House Hospice Staff, the Friends of The King’s Hall volunteers who sold the Wine, all the raffle prize givers and ball organisers, Stuart Quarmby, Peter Settle and chair of the organising committee Chris Woodhead.

On the night, Martinez supplied the wines, Lishman’s the beef, Tesco Ilkley provided mince pies, Moin Moin Backerei supplied the bread & Ilkley Taxis reduced its fares, which all helped to make a real community affair.       

Guests enjoyed a meal, before the colourful raffle and dancing to The Black Suits and DJ Nick Babb.

Past president David Shaw, who helped host the raffle, said: “A really great night was had by all and Charles Lowe celebrated a surprise 50th birthday with big balloons on the night. David Lowe his father is a past President of Ilkley Rotary Club.”
