Students at Ilkley Grammar School have been celebrating their GCSE results today following an anxious wait over the past few months
Despite the BTEC delay announcement late yesterday which introduced another level of uncertainty for some students this year, the majority of students have received their complete set of final results at IGS today.
The school are pleased to see students have done exceptionally well again, continuing the upwards trend in GCSE results Ilkley Grammar School have enjoyed over the past 5 years, with the vast majority securing their first-choice Post-16 destination. Those awaiting BTEC outcomes are now being supported to ensure they can secure a place at their chosen destinations today too.
Ms. Williams, Headteacher said, “Once again we congratulate our students on their fantastic achievements this year. Getting the announcement on Monday that Centre Assessment Grades would be used for GCSEs as well as A Levels meant we were reassured that students would receive grades that would more accurately reflect their track record compared to those that would have been generated by a computer algorithm.
Our students have worked so hard over the past 2 years, including through lockdown, to complete their courses and we are delighted that so many are celebrating today!
The last week has been incredibly challenging for the school where we started the week with some trepidation about what today would bring. Thankfully, the Government and Ofqual listened to schools and students to change their policy and we can now focus on celebrating some amazing, thoroughly deserved results and ensuring students confirm their Post-16 destinations.
Once again I’d like to commend our students for their incredible resilience this year and to thank our staff for their tireless hard work in supporting students to achieve such fantastic outcomes. Finally, I’d like to thank our parent body for their ongoing support of IGS - especially since March.
Well done everyone and good luck for your next steps!”
