Ilkley Town Council has approved an exceptional grant of £10,000 to Ilkley Grammar School to help sustain and enhance mental health provision for students during the 2025–2026 academic year.

The funding comes at a time of increasing need for well-being and mental health support among young people, alongside significant financial pressures on school budgets. Local and national services continue to face long waiting lists and high thresholds for access, leaving schools to fill critical gaps in early intervention and emotional support.

The grant from Ilkley Town Council will enable Ilkley Grammar School to continue offering timely, accessible mental health support to its students, ensuring that vulnerable young people do not go without the help they need.

Cllr Pauline Allon, speaking on behalf of Ilkley Town Council, said:

“Supporting the well-being of young people in our community is a top priority. This exceptional grant reflects the Council’s recognition of the pressures facing both schools and families, and our commitment to ensuring that every student has access to the right help at the right time.”
