Ilkley MP Robbie Moore has launched a petition calling for an immediate Council U-turn on the proposed closure of Ilkley's Golden Butts tip, along with one at Cross Roads near Keighley.
Both Golden Butts tip in Ilkley and Sugden End tip in Cross Roads have been earmarked for closure by Bradford Council this month as part of their proposed cuts to public services across the District.
But Mr Moore has warned of a “disastrous consequences” should the plans go ahead and is urging residents to sign his “Save Our Tips” petition.
The MP successfully campaigned to save Keighley Tip last year, running a petition which garnered over 7,000 signatures from local residents before presenting the petition to the House of Commons in January 2023.
With Bradford Council planning a further consultation, the local MP says it is vital that residents make their voices heard.

Robbie Moore MP said: “It’s disgraceful to see Labour-run Bradford Council once again targeting our vital local services whilst at the same time propping up wasteful and costly projects elsewhere in the District.
"Should these plans go ahead, there will be disastrous consequences for fly-tipping in our community. And for residents in Ilkley who have been campaigning against Bradford's costly and unpopular speed bumps plan, having a crucial service like Golden Butts tip threatened with closure in order to "save money" is beyond parody.
"Last year, we fought tooth and nail to save our Keighley Tip, and I will not stand by while our Labour Council once again trashes the very services that keep our area clean.
"I am again urging residents to join my calls for Bradford Council to instigate an immediate U-turn on these disastrous plans by signing my ‘Save Our Tips' petition at robbiemoore.org.uk/SaveOurTips.”
Ilkley District Councillor Anne Hawkesworth is arranging (non political) paper petitions to be available around town from Wednesday (10 January), with both Mortens and Specsavers so far agreeing to have them.
