A brand-new apartment development in Ilkley town centre which has seen the upper floors of a landmark building on The Grove converted into 10 magnificent apartments, has been presented with a conservation award in recognition of its high quality and sympathetic transformation.
The furnished show apartments at Langbar House, which are being marketed by Dacre, Son & Hartley’s successful new homes division, are also open to view on Wednesdays and Saturdays between 10am and 12noon.
The development has received a ‘Conservation Commendation’ from Ilkley Civic Society in this year’s prestigious Design and Conservation Awards, which recognise projects that make a valuable contribution to improving the townscape of Ilkley or its surrounding landscape.
Ilkley Civic Society highlighted the considerable work carried out on the building’s exterior which includes replacing the roof slates, repairs to chimneys and complete re-rendering of the exterior to ensure the building envelope is fit for a long future.
Langbar House has been created by the highly respected development partnership comprising of YorPlace and Square Feet, which is behind several other successful developments in the local area. It was designed by architect Halliday Clark with Dobsons of Ilkley as the principal contractor.
Patrick McCutcheon, head of residential at Dacre, Son & Hartley, said:
“Yorplace and Square Feet have successfully transformed several heritage buildings in the local area into stunning homes and all their developments have been very successful, so this recognition from Ilkley Civic Society is very well deserved.
“We now only have a selection of two bedroom apartments still for sale that all offer very generous living areas, an exceptional specification and lovely views from the upper floors. Anyone interested in experiencing the quality of what’s on offer in this exclusive development can visit on Wednesdays or Saturdays, or else make an appointment to view at their own convenience.
“The development offers lift access to each floor, including the residents’ basement store, and apartment 9 is unique with a westerly facing balcony accessed from the living room, which enjoys lovely views over Mill Ghyll.”
Langbar House overlooks The Grove, with all Ilkley’s cafes, shops, bars, restaurants and railway station on the doorstep, as well as being just over a mile away from the famous Cow & Calf.
Other developments that YorPlace and Square Feet have completed include Lime Garth off Ilkley’s Kings Road, the transformation of the Grade I listed Burley House and conversion of The Malt Shovel, both in Burley in Wharfedale, as well as nine new homes at Deer Glade, Darley near Harrogate.
The remaining apartments at Langbar House are priced between £349,950 and £415,000 and further information is available by calling Dacre, Son & Hartley on 01943 600655 or visiting www.dacres.co.uk
