Second leg of 'magical' Santa tour starts on Friday

The Ilkley & District Round Table is celebrating a hugely successful start to this year’s Santa Float with hundreds of families stepping outside to greet Santa and support local causes in Addingham, Valley Drive and Ilkley Town Centre.

With smiling children, glowing windows, and the unmistakable sound of Christmas music echoing through the streets, the opening phase of the tour has delivered everything the community cherishes about this festive tradition.

Volunteers have been overwhelmed by the generosity shown so far - both in warm welcomes and in donations - the Santa Float helps the Round Table raise over £100,000 for local charities and good causes.

With three routes complete and two more to go, the momentum is strong heading into the final leg of Santa’s tour. With the Ben Rhydding route up next on Friday [12th] from 6pm, the Round Table will be joined by 1st Ben Rhydding Scouts. Finally, residents on the Dale View route can listen out for the music, step outside and continue the magic on Sunday [14th] from 4pm.

A spokesperson for Ilkley & District Round Table said:

“The atmosphere on the streets over these first nights has been incredible. Seeing families wrap up warm, come out to wave to Santa and support the Float reminds us why this tradition is so special.

“The generosity shown so far will make a real difference to people and organisations right here in our community. We’re excited to bring the magic to Ben Rhydding next.”

Donations remain vital to the success of the Santa Float and the charitable impact it delivers year after year. Residents can continue to give via text by sending ILKLEYSANTA 5, 10 or 20 to 70085 - with 100% of the donation going directly to charity. Cash and card donations will also be collected by volunteers accompanying the Float.
